The Tallest Buildings in the World

Some cities are bigger than others, with vast populations and towering buildings. These 10 structures are the grandest skyscrapers in the world, so tall they almost touch the sky!

1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai, UAE

Burj Khalifa was designed by architect J. Eduardo Hernandez Segundo and was finished in 2010. This skyscraper, with a height of 2,717 ft., is currently the tallest in the world. But not for long! The Sky City Tower, which should be completed by June, will be even taller, with a height of 2,749 ft.

2. Skytree Tokio, Tokio, Japan

This radio tower built in 2012 measures a total of 2,080 ft. and is currently the second tallest building in the world.

3. Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China

The Shanghai Tower is still under construction. Once completed, this staggering building will reach a height of 2,073 ft.!

4. Abraj Al Bait Towers, Mekka, Saudi-Arabia

This spectacular 1,972 ft. tall building is actually a hotel. The complex is also recognised for having the largest clock tower in the world.

5. One World Trade Center, New York, USA

Designed in 2013 by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, One World Trade Center is the tallest skyscraper in the United States. It measures 1,776 ft.

6. Taipei 101 , Taipei, Taiwan

With a height of  1,669.9 ft., Taipei 101 is the sixth tallest building in the world.

7. World Financial Center, Shanghai, China

Designed by architect Kohn Pedersen Fox and built in 2008, this Center reaches the towering height of 1,614.2 ft.

8. International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong, China

This commercial skyscraper, which was built in 2010,  is 1,587.9 ft tall.

9. Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Designed by architect Cesar Pelli in 1998, these towers stand 1,483 ft tall!

10. Greenland Square Zifeng Tower, Nanjing, China

With a height of 1,480 ft., the Greenland Square Zifeng Tower is the 10^th largest building in the world.
